The EC/ECE-approved 4" (101.6 mm) downpipe from HPerformance was developed specifically for the 2.5 TFSI DAZA engines and combines aerodynamic optimization with OEM-like integration and unrestricted suitability for everyday use.
At the heart of the design is a fully flow-optimized geometry, starting right at the turbocharger outlet. A precisely engineered inlet ensures clean, low-loss transfer of the exhaust gases from the turbine housing into the 4-inch cross-section.
Further along, the continuous pipe run ensures a stable flow without abrupt changes in cross-section. The integrated 160 mm ceramic catalytic converter with built-in thermal insulation is optimally integrated from a fluid dynamics perspective and designed for high efficiency in a production environment.
A specially designed outlet behind the catalytic converter promotes the even expansion of the exhaust gases and helps further reduce flow losses and backpressure. This overall design reduces exhaust backpressure and improves the system’s thermal performance, which has a positive effect on efficiency and responsiveness.
An additional effect of the enlarged, evenly tapered pipe geometry is a significantly altered sound character: The 2.5 TFSI produces a deeper, more powerful, and richer sound without coming across as unpleasant or intrusive. The downpipe meets the requirements of the EC/ECE regulation and is therefore legal for use on public roads.
No engine control unit modification is required. Typical HPerformance: Designed with a focus on consistent results, technical precision, and durable components—engineered for demanding on-road use. No software tuning required: This EC/ECE-approved downpipe can be installed without modifying the engine control unit.
