Product description:
The VZ5 has an intercooler from the factory that is too small to be able to reproducibly produce 390 hp. The side boxes of the intercooler are made of plastic and are already familiar from the Golf 6 GTI. The total volume of the standard radiator is only 8.6 liters. In addition, it is covered by the air conditioning radiator and the water cooler directly behind the intercooler is "heated" passively on an ongoing basis.
The HP Sport Series intercooler is a completely new development, detached from the combined package of air conditioning, intercooler and water cooler. It sits classically like a front charge air cooler in front of the entire air conditioning section, directly in the air flow and has a total volume of 16.5 liters. The net used is a bar and plate net, which is particularly suitable for high charge pressures and enables a reproducible power output.
This significant improvement in cooling performance can also be seen in the form of power. This results in an increase in power of up to 28 hp and 65 Nm (reproducible), even after several test runs the measured power is constantly above 390 hp and the temperature at the end of a run is still below that at the start.
The original radiator does not necessarily have to be completely removed, but it must be machined. The inlet and outlet hoses of the original radiator must be cut off. If you don't want to do this, you can order our replacement frame. This serves as a kind of placeholder for the original radiator and ensures that the air conditioning and water cooler sit perfectly in the front with all the necessary connections! We recommend replacing the original radiator completely with our Replacement Frame to avoid unwanted air turbulence under the vehicle.
The intercooler is suitable for all performance levels and can be used both on the standard vehicle and on a vehicle with significantly increased performance.
Its total weight including baffle plate is only 18.5 kg. It also offers the option of being combined with our 80mm / 3.14 inch charge pipe / throttle body unit.
Our intercooler can be registered with a TÜV parts certificate even without a performance upgrade!
